Why is wukong so op

Everyone speaks with one voice. The Wukong rework is insane now. Only two days have passed since the update of Wukong, the win-rate and pick-rate are not countable. However, most of the pro-players, streamers, and YouTubers say Wukong is an OP champion without question. Some of them claim that Wukong needs to be hot-fixed. Riot Games revealed on their patch As Shaco has been showing on the Rift, the trickster playstyle demands a high level of understanding about the champion.

Riot made Wukong as solid as Malphite so that summoners would be able to try and practice various combos until they get used to the trickster style without trolling. This is why Wukong is OP now. Wukong is too solid and even strong. Runes are focused on long-lasting fights. Conqueror, Triumph, and Last stand will help you in the long battle. Biscuit Delivery and Time Warp Tonic, too. There is another option picking Electrocute to maximize Wukong's damage. However, this doesn't seem to fit Riot Games' intention.

When releasing the new or remade champions, Riot Games usually makes them very competitive in the recent meta as much as possible. Wukong also has his strength on the meta as bruisers and tanks rule the Rift. Charging Conquerer full-stack and with the passive skill, you can normally dominate the laning phase against bruisers.

Ruby Crystal simply amplifies Wukong's lane advantage. Don't hesitate to buy it at first recall. It is also the base item for Black Cleaver which is the core for Wukong. Nimbus Strike E has its strength in the laning phase.

Rather than using the E skill on the enemy directly, use it on the minions nearby the champion. Since Nimbus Strike costs only 30 mana, you can frequently poke the enemy without losing health. Warrior Trickster W is the key skill for Wukong. With the decoy, not only that you can damage the enemy but also charge the Conquerer stack easily.

His abilities also felt outdated when compared to Sett and Ornn. He was just not a good laner anymore after all the reworks and updates for other champions. It feels much smoother to play and has more decision-making incorporated into it.

His old passive, Stone Skin, granted armor and magic resist for every nearby champion. That was reworked to grant armor and health regeneration, which is stackable if you damage enemy champions. While it did lose the MR bonus, the new passive feels like a better fit for the bruiser type champion Wukong is being shaped into—a champ who wants to have extended fights and manipulate enemies with his clone.

His Q, Crushing Blow, received a nice buff, allowing you to decrease its cooldown if you or your clone damage an enemy. His W, Warrior Trickster, received an amazing rework. Instead of having a useless decoy spawn at the place you use W, Wukong now has a decoy that will interact with your abilities and actually does damage.

The price of this was reduced invisibility from 1. Instead of scaling with bonus AD, it will now scale with AP. Riot did provide some compensation for this by increasing the attack speed gained and the attack speed buff duration.

His R, Cyclone, is now a terror to deal with. Both Wukong and his clone from W can use this ability, allowing you to knock-up targets far from each other and deal a lot of damage to them at the same time without being even close.

The other significant buff lets Wukong cast it a second time, allowing you to do your combo, ult, then do your combo again and ult again. This is extremely deadly against any carry who might be able to escape your first ultimate. This will likely increase soon as more people meet him and start picking him up after seeing how strong he is.
